FAQs
How do I make changes to my child’s device?
Mint Kids provides a 100% managed solution, meaning that you are not required to do any set-up or configuration. If you’d like to add or remove apps or games, or change any other parameters on your child’s device, simply send us a WhatsApp message, and we’ll make the change for you remotely.
How do I cancel my service?
Your Mint Kids subscription can be canceled at any time with one calendar month’s notice. Simply log a cancellation ticket in writing with our support humans, either via WhatsApp or by sending an email to support@mintkids.co.za.
Can I control data and airtime usage?
Yes. The subscription works like a regular cell phone plan. Sign up for the package you want, and you can top up data or airtime as you need it. Simply purchase a pre-paid data or airtime bundle from a vendor of your choice, or hop onto your internet banking and top up as required.
Can I keep my child’s existing phone number?
Yes, if it’s a Vodacom or MTN pre-paid SIM. You can choose to port an existing number to Mint Kids, but we will only be able to load our packages onto plans that are out of contract (ie: the contract is in a month-to-month state or you’re on a pre-paid SIM).
Can I use my own device?
Yes. If you wish to use your own device, you can opt for the software-only package, as long as the device is on our approved devices list. You can find this list on our website, www.mintkids.co.za.
Can you control the content my child is exposed to within 3rd-party apps?
No. Once your child is in an app – for example, YouTube Kids – they can access whatever content is available within that app*.
*Mint Kids does not take responsibility for third-party apps and the content delivered within those apps.
